PZT( Piezo transformer )

Piezoelectric Transformer is a device that enables a low voltage input to generate into a high voltage output through
the utilization of a piezoelectric transducer's resonance phenomenon.
A Piezoelectric transformer has tow electrodes. The primary electrode is polarized to the thickness direction where
as the second electrode is to the length direction. Strong mechanical oscillation is generated at the secondary side,
when a resonance frequency voltage is introduced at the primary side. In order to produce proper matching oscillation at the secondary electrode, the voltage of the direct piezoelectric effect at the first electrode must be rational to its length dimension.

Piezoelectric ceramic transformer has the advantages of high efficiency, no EMI, low profile, no flaming, safe and reliability,
it could be used in LCD Backlight inverter (used in PDA, digital camera, portable DVD, car TV, Notebook computer, LCD
monitor, LCD TV and so on), ionizer generator, high voltage igniters, etc.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES
PZT Operating Principle

1.The voltage at resonant frequency (Vin) is applied on the primary side.
2. Converse Piezoelectric effect.
3. A mechanical oscillation occurs due to electro striction effect on the primary side.
4. The mechanical oscillation is transmitted from the primary side to the secondary side Piezoelectric effect.
5. A high voltage (Vout) is generated at the secondary side due to the impedance ratio between the primary and the secondary side.

PZT Sustaining Method

A. "Y" Mode Sustaining Method. In case of Y mode vibration, the transformer should be sustained by elastic material at 1/4 point from both ends.

B. "Y2" Mode Sustaining Method. In case of Y/2 mode vibration, the transformer should be sustained by elastic material in the center point of itself.
